This is an antique oil painting in beautiful condition with a lovely frame. The talented American Artist was born in 1861 during the Civil War. Bruce was born in Auburn, New York and is known for his animal paintings, landscapes, and portraits. William Bruce trained under Auburn's most famous landscape painter, George L. Clough, in the early 1880's and traveled to New York City and paris for further study. Bruce also gained recognition for his lifelike portraits and beautiful animal paintings, some of which grew so popular they were reproduced in calendars and distributed throughout the world. His work is now featured in the Cayga Museum of History and Art in Auburn, New York. This is just one of the fine art pieces from our Art Gallery at Gannon's Antiques & Art.
